Kabira Cadogan, a published scholar, designer, and poet, finds that synergy between the creative and the intellectual is invaluable to her design process. 8 years of doctoral study in Cultural Anthropology (University of Chicago and the University of Iowa, where she taught for 4 years) has elucidated the pervasive influence that built environments have on human identity and behavior. Her professional scholarly training enables careful research of period styles pertinent to both modern and historic home design and renovation.
Undergraduate design coursework included interior design, media graphics, graphic design, and film production. Design honors have included the top fellowship award for graduate study at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, an art department graphic design award at Drake University, and interior design work featured in magazines and manufacturers’ promotional literature.
